    .458 SOCOM Suppressor

I picked up a .458 a while back and have been researching the various suppressors for it. the two I am considers is the Bower Vers 458 and the SilencerCo Hybrid 46.

Does anyone have these or can give their opinion on them?

I bought a hybrid but don’t have it yet. The hybrid is not as big as the bower vers that was my deciding factor.

I'll be watching this thread, I'm leaning towards the Hybrid too for the same reason.

Hybrid would be pick. The Bowers are freaking long imo and expensive.

looks like it will be the Hybrid 46. I was concerned with the length on the Bowers but most reviews said it was a great can.

Not find a whole lot of info on the Hybrid 46 for the 458.

I have a liberty cosmic and waiting on the Bowers vers now. You just need to decide what you want. Better suppression or smaller size. The hybrid is going to still be pretty loud. The bowers is obviously much bigger but will do a lot better job. Especially on SBRs.

I'm using the Hybrid on my 12" 458 socom. I've shot everything through it from hot 300gr to subsonic 500's. So far I have been impressed, it's backyard quiet with Trailboss but my 500gr subsonic load with 2400 is definitely louder than a suppressed 22lr. I'd consider it hearing safe with super sonic loads and it also does well with my 308. I don't have any experience with the Bowers but with it's larger volume it should be quieter. I will tell you that no matter how quiet the gun is, a heavy .45 caliber bullet makes quite a bit of noise when it hits something.

True! I'm shooting a 385 grn lead at 1050 fps. Very quiet. Very lethal. Sounds like somebody hitting a watermelon with a baseball bat when it hits an animal.

You’re not worried about the lead bullets fouling the baffles?

Not sure what he's running but I'm double powder coating my 500's with no ill effects. I plan on getting a 600gr mold soon.

Make sure your barrel is threaded correctly. Most 458 barrels are 11/16 or 3/4” threads. I haven’t seen an adapter for the Hybrid that will work with either of those.

I have the Crux ARK45 for mine.

I also have a Hybrid but as mentioned I can’t use it due to my barrel threads.

Looks great, I believe silencefCo makes an ASR device threaded 11/16

What mold are you using currently I’d like to get into that.

The very first adapters they offered were 1/2, 5/8 and 3/4. I specifically ordered a 3/4" barrel for that reason. I just looked at their sight and they offer a lot more variations now.

I already had some good molds for my 45-70 but nothing heavy that would work for the socom so I got the Lee C457-500-F just to see how it would do. The results have been very surprising for a cheap mold, averaging 1.5" groups at 100 yards. The bullet nose is designed to ride the lands and fit's my barrel perfectly when powder coated. I plan on having Accurate Molds make me a custom based off this design but with a bigger metplat and more weight. My barrel is a X-Caliber 12" 1-10 twist with 3/4" threads.
