Which one and what length barrel and twist?

The middle 2 are my favorites of the bunch, but both would box you in pretty bad if you didn't load. I'm sure the 270WSM is a great round, but I have zero experience behind one. The 25-06 is a proven choice with a lot of nice attributes. If you don't already have a quarter bore in your collection, it's not a bad place to start. It gets even more interesting with the new black jack bullets. 24" would be about right. Twist rate depends on if you actually want to shoot the newer bullets, or stick with the standard stuff.

A fast twist quarter bore would be sweet. Robert is building me one now.

Thank you! Just wanted to verify with you what the actual twist was going to be. Wasn’t sure if John meant to put 1:9 in there or not as the lightest bullet I will prob run with be the ABLR.

I have a 6 creed 6.5 creed and 280 AI in custom rifles. Thinking I'm gonna go a 300 win mag throated for the 215 class bullets in the carbon carbon option 1 as a go anywhere do anything build. Should round out my collection very well.

Robert would you recommend the wyatt's box in this setup? How much extra does that add to the cost?

But of those I would do a 28 Nosler 26” 1:8 and add a brake.

Forgot about that WBY. Scratch the 25-06 idea.

Will the faster twist .257 barrels be able to shoot the factory loads (110, 115, 120, etc)??

I would go with the Wyatt's. I think it's only around $35 or so.

I'd go 28 nosler then. About the only thing you don't have covered is a screamer 7mm. The 7 saum is basically the same as the 280 AI

How do the 280AI and 6.5 PRC compare for hunting?

Gonna be real similar. 280 AI gives more flexibility as you can go heavier bullets

Recoil about the same ? my 12 year old will one shooting it ?

I have never shot a PRC but i would guess 140 gr bullets in both would be similar recoil. Step up into the 160 plus in the 280 would have a bit more recoil. My 280 AI from APR doesn't recoil bad at all with 168 gr bullets and i hate recoil. My gun is a maverick with grayboe stock and steel barrel so it will be a bit heavier than this build.

I could go that route also in a shorter barrel. I think most of my stuff is 24 inch to 26 inch barrels.

.243 and .308 Sako and Tikka may be 22 inch barrels.
