    Remington Model 7 feed problem....

The G-son got a new Remington Model 7 in 243..for Christmas.... It’s very accurate but the ammo has lots of problems feeding correctly into the magazine and chamber.... I don’t like having problems like this..especially on a kids gun....
Has anyone else owned one of these guns..and had any problems? I read online that this isn’t uncommon....

Could always change from a hinged floorplate to a detachable magazine. Should help iron out the problem

I have the original version in 7mm-08. Great little rifle but I have never been able to get the last round to feed. I've had others that worked fine.

My son has one in .260. Never a problem.

Could you elaborate on the feeding issues? Are you getting dented case mouths or is the bolt not catching and pushing the round into the chamber?

Send it back to the factory & get them to fix it.

That’s it..the bolt isn’t catching and pushing round into the chamber...plus they get stuck in the magazine well.... I have to drop the floor plate and clean out..so we are only loading 2 rounds..seems to work best....

Gonna go off assumptions here without seeing it but I’m thinking that the follower is allowing the rear of the cartridge to dip down allowing the bolt to rise over the cartridge instead of contacting the base and pushing it into the chamber. The two easiest fixes would be to replace the hinged floor plate with a detachable mag system but that is extra money (although well spent in my opinion). The other thing is just to push each round flat and to the front of the internal box and that should allow the bolt to catch each round.

I have 2 in .308 and 1 in .223. I haven't experienced this problem in any of mine.

They just bind up down in the magwell.... I’m checking into a detachable magazine kit....

Could the spring not be installed correctly or the follower in backwards? Seems like i had a 223 that had the same issue. The spring wasnt in the clip on the floorplate and caused the ammo to tilt.
