    Suppressor Accuracy

Looking for some info from those of you that have some experience with multiple suppressors and what you have found are the most accurate for bolt action type rifles mainly. I may be in the market for a new one and accuracy is most important to me over sound reduction. Looking at a 30 cal can and either direct thread or taper mount. Will NOT be considering the tooth mount style from AAC or the flash hider mount.

Ive got a pretty good background with a few models just curious some of you that have a better background might have to say. Trying to keep total out the door at 1200 with the stamp.

    Thanks,

My only direct experience is with Dead Air, both the Sandman series so QD systems.

Repeatability is outstanding BUT there has been a POI shift on most rifles when shooting suppressed and non suppressed. This isn’t an issue for me as I really don’t shoot rifles without a can anymore but it’s something to keep in mind if you intend to set up a rifle to shoot with and without.

Just my experience, I’m sure others will chime in with theirs. Also, not entirely sure where you’re located but if you happen to be close and want to check out what I have we could work a range trip in the near future.

Edit- To clear my post, I have a Sandman S and L which are not direct thread like the TI referenced below. Apologies as I forgot to mention the model differences earlier.

i only have one can, so take this as just one data point.

my dead air sandman ti is a direct thread 30 cal model and i use in on a few different bolt rifles. i have it hitting 3/4" groups or less inside the bullseye at 100 yds on my 25-06 as well as my 6.5 creedmoor. i also use it on a ruger american ranch 300blk and a savage 10 fcp in 308 caliber. all are under an inch groupings with the suppressor on.

The POI shift is a given and not something I'm concerned about. Awesome I appreciate the offer! Im in Fort Bend county so may have to make a trip one of these days.

Also a Dead Air customer with the Sandman L. Like said above there’s a poi shift but it is still very accurate. If I didn’t have the sandman I’d own a thunder beast

Yep. No way to hang a weight on the end of your barrel and not have a change in POI.

My Thunderbeast Ultra 7 has a POI shift compared to no can. But it is very reliable even across removing & re-attaching. I used the same target in 2 range trips 2 weeks apart. I had pasters over my impacts from trip 1 and shot same POA in 2nd trip. The pasters promptly blew off but the impacts were right in line with shots 2 weeks earlier. And that was with having removed the can at end of range trip and then screwed it on at start of 2nd trip. It was using TB's CB Brake.

I also shoot the Dead Air Sandman L. Once sighted in I don’t have any accuracy issues. Also I now never shoot without it.

                    To answer the op-
My crux ARK 30 doesn't meet your spending cap, but has been accurate enough on my rifles.
Sound suppression was less than I was hoping for though.

                    To the rest-

What about shifts between different cans?

For example, I have a few rifles currently sighted in to use my one direct thread Crux Ark 30 suppressor.
When I finally get my hands on my new Dead Air Nomad 30 (waiting for me at the shop, ready to pick up) - should I expect a POI shift between cans on the same rifle?

I know, the real answer will be to shoot them and find out.

What I'm hoping for is same POI with either can on the same rifle, to keep life simpler.

Nomad in DT configuration. I’ve had a lot, and still do. Sold my Ultra 7 shortly after the Nomad came out.

If their is a shift, it will be very minimal. I’ve swapped a lot of cans back and forth for testing, and any quality direct thread cans (that aren’t heavy as all get out) zero remains the same. I’ve had a buddy that’s accuracy an*l (worse than me), and it bugged him to death when I’d swap cans and not confirm zero. He’s finally realizing that it hasn’t had any effect, and isn’t quite a pain about it anymore.

Thunderbeast Ultra series. You can often find 1/2 off certificates for a couple hundred resulting in a price under your budget

I have two cans. An all steel Silencertech and a Ti Omega. Both direct thread and shoot very well on multiple rifles. The heavier can tends to have a greater POI shift no matter the rifle or barrel contour. My guess is weight of can and barrel harmonics. The heavier barrels tend to have less POI shift. Overall, accuracy tends to improve with any rifle and either can. I shoot F Class with my Silencertech can. It is very accurate on my match rifle. Both cans can be had for $850 or less.

Funny you mention the nomad I was just talking to a guy about it and adding it to my list of contenders.
