What’s a tack driver?

In my opinion a rifle that wears the "tack driver" moniker should be able to shoot .5 moa or less groups consistently at a given distance.
Consistently is the key word here. Any rifle made is capable of shooting a tight group here and there. You'll see cherry picked pictures on the interweb and in some wallets. A "tack driver" should be able to repeat shooting small groups time and time again. All groups/shots in a session should be averaged instead of picking a random small group and leaving out the "oh I pulled that shot" or "I made a bad wind call".

1/2” at 100 is about the worst accuracy I’ll accept. That said it has to be the pill of my choosing as well. I don’t care if it can shoot a Barnes whatever at 3/8” if it can’t shoot the Berger or ELD of my choosing at 1/2” or less. I’ll also take a 1/2 rifle with a low single digit SD over a 1/4” rifle with a double digit load SD all day long.

I agree completely here. If it’s a 1/2 inch gun and the groups aren’t 1/2 inch I know it’s me. And I’m the same with bullet selection.
Sierracharlie out…

Watched my 13 year old Nephew with his American Predator 6.5 CM shoot steel at 300 yds. Torso plate, then 8” disk, 6” then a 4” disk in that order. Now i want one.
