    What’s a tack driver?

Besides a phrase that gets used all too often, including by myself, when talking about a firearm. I’m curious what everyone’s definition of a “tack driving” rifle is.

So with that being said, post up pics of the group or groups your tack driver shoots that you are happy with. Don’t forget rifle data and or load data if you want to share.

**This is not a thread to make fun of people’s shooting ability or equipment.** I genuinely want to know what group sizing everyone finds acceptable and exceptional.

I used to spend A LOT of time behind a rifle but these days that time is hard to come by. Went out today and shot some quality ammo out of a quality rifle. These are decent results but I know I have better in me. To be fair I’m a little rusty

1 inch circle for reference. 260 Rem barrel out of a Barrett MRAD.

I have a Remington 700 30/06, shoot 150 grain core locks. At 100 yards, i can get a group that a dime will cover. It is a tack driver by all means. Lol

I don’t drive tacks, I shoot lights out. Don’t ask about the size of the lights though.

The first pic is from my $150 pawn shop special 700 in fuddy ought six and the second is from a 700 varmint 308 with a helluva lot better scope than the former.

I like great groups as much as the next guy, but really a 1.5” three shot group at 100 translates into a 300 yard hunting gun, and I ain’t good enough to kill a deer sized critter at 300 from a field position, no matter the rifle.....

Man killing deer at or beyond 300 is easy even in less than ideal conditions. I shot 2 does last night off a tripod standing with my .260 first was 290 yards second was between 300-350. First one dropped with a high shoulder shot second made it 30-40 yards both shot with 130gr Accubond.

                    What’s a tack driver?

This was 4 shots out of my Sako 85 Stainless hunter using 150gr Horandy whitetail hunters.

This a a factory provided 5 shot target from same gun using 168 federal Sierra match kings.

I would say anything with sub 1” at 100 yards far outperforms my twitchy shooting and hunting conditions.

A tack driver shoots 3 shots inside a 1/4” (the sizzle of a tack head). I believe there are more tack drivers out there, than there are people who can drive a tack.

I either don’t have any tack drivers or can’t drive a tack lol.

That’s a great description of a tack driver!

5 shot group at 100 yards out of my .280ai. Not sure of the old yet but it’s 140 accubond from copper creek.
