    My Switchlug

Thought I might show a few pics of my Switchlug that WTO built for me. 7mm-08AI and 22 Creedmoor. Both barrels are built by Dan Lilja and the 7mm-08AI is a 3 groove. I wont say the velocity the 7mm-08AI is producing with a 140 gr Berger VLD bullet, but it is very surprising and very fast. IMR 4350 seems to be the best for me, but it sure does not like certain brands of primers(this maybe related to seating depth and bullet jump). The Creedmoor has to wait, I got too many irons in the fire at this time.

Clayton builds a fine rifle! Say a prayer for him and family, his son is undergoing chemotherapy.

You mentioned the need for annealing the AI version brass after the initial firing in one of your other posts. Do you have a machine at the house or do you send them somewhere? Robert is building me an AI for me currently and this will be the first time messing with one. Been loading for a while just not the AI versions. Sweet looking gun by the way. I’m curious on velocities of the 08AI if you would rather DM than post here. I’m looking at putting a 7-08 in the line up for wife and kid to shoot.

Got to ask, did you consider the 7saw that clayton designed? Appears about the same as the 7-08ai.

Come on, don't tease us, what kind of velocity are you getting? I'm a 7-08 nut but have never done one in an AI.

                BTW, beautiful rifle.

Yes I considered that and a 270 Winchester match chamber. The 7mm-08AI has the advantage of shooting factory 7mm-08 ammo and mine is very accurate with it.

I had Clayton use a Long Action receiver on this build. I wanted to to take full advantage of the interchangeable barrels with a switch lug. I can shoot short or long action calibers plus I can load the long VLD bullets in short action calibers.

With the long action I can use heavier and longer bullets in the 7mm-08, velocity is going to be about 120 FPS faster with 140 grain bullets. However, I have been loading reloder 26 powder and that stuff has some power to it.

I used to have a 6.5 Needmoor and loaded it with reloder 26 and 140 grain bullets. I was pushing the 140 grainers to 3056 FPS with slight pressure signs. I had to use a drop tube to get all the powder in the case. As these are compressed loads. Lol, Do not do this, just buy a 6.5 prc.

There are several machines that are 400.00 but my friend has one of these cheap ones and they work good. So I bought one.

Yeah I’ve got a buddy in Virginia that has the anneal-ez or something like that. He likes it but it’s in that 3-400 range
