    222 loads

Just playing around with handloads for my 222. Loaded some 35 grain Hornady V-Max on top of 3.4 and 3.8 grains of Hodgdon 800x powder.
These are 50-yard, 5 shot groups. The grid is 1/2 inch squares.
The stubby looking bullet is the 35 grain V-Max and pointy one is a 53 grain Amax.

They should have the velocity of a 22 long rifle.

Why not just shoot 22LR. The primers and bullets alone cost more that the LR not counting your time.

This is the 4.2 grain group, but it is also my first one. I believe I settled in on the others. I adjusted the scope after the first shot, which is high right, and then I adjusted the scope again for the subsequent groups.

For a regular load try a 52gr match with a case full of N133...

Thanks. I'm currently shooting 23.5gr W748 and the 53gr Amax (now eldm)

After further shooting, this load is a no-go. The charge doesn't make enough pressure for the brass to seal the chamber and I am getting carbon fouling down the outside of the case.
