Pre 1918 Colt 1911 wtb front sight

I walked out of my cabin this morning to shoot a squirrel with an old 1911 and the front sight disappeared into the snow with the first shot. It’s a low profile staked front sight with a round stake. Anybody have one lying around? I can’t find any online.

In all seriousness I’ve told the kids there’s a $20 for whoever gets it. It’s probably not in the river but it’s down a bank and holy cow it’lol be a treasure hunt!

She’s older than most but still running strong. I got it from a neighbor up here in the north woods. He’s in his mid 80’s and still carried it.

Actually they did have one! It was a dig to find it though. The pre 1918 front sights had a round stake and they are notorious for coming off apparently. Thanks for the tip.

It has indeed. I’ve been kicking around the idea of parting it out or selling it. I’d like to start beating up my kimber a little more.
