Glass on VX5HD is made in China. Glass on VX6HD is made in Japan. All Leupold scopes below a VX5HD has chinese made glass, they had to do this to stay competitive.

Is this confirmed? Heard lots of places that the glass is identical but that always seemed a little suspect.

Yes its true, came straight from the rep. I believe this change was done a few years ago when the Freedom series came out.

Last year Leupold also changed up their dealer program. I had to fill out paperwork and submit to Leupold to be an authorized dealer.

I think I had the same question about the VX6 and the VX7 but nobody new the answer so I emailed Leupold. The answer I got back was a bunch of technical stuff that basically said it was the same.

went the old reliable. I have a Swaro Z6 on my 6.5 Creedmoor, but couldn't fit another in with this APR build .22 Creedmoor budget.

Not sure what you plan to do with it but double check the amount of travel you have with that Z6 some of the swaros are pretty limited

You should give Meopta r1 try . The 4x16x44 is a great hunting scope and it tracks well when dialing in for long range shots
