Seeking input on scope for my APR build

Ordered a Tier 2 in 28 nosler at the deadline and am looking hard at the Leupold VX6HD. Any input on reticle ect. appreciated as this is my first custom gun. It will be my primary do all rig from whitetail to elk.

I’d go with the VX5HD and save a little money. Same glass as VX6 from what I understand, just lower zoom ratio.

Good info, i hadnt heard that before. I just assumed the glass was better in the 6.

I thought hard about the 28 Nosler, but I ain't getting any younger and although Elk are not out of the question in the future, it will primarily be used on deer/hogs so I decided on a 7 mag for the reduced recoil.
I'm going VX-6HD on this baby as well. Yes, glass is the same as the VX-5HD, differences are that the 6 also has a "zero stop" on the windage knob and it has a built in level in the illuminated reticle that blinks if your not straight. Also comes with their alumina flip up caps that are over $100 alone.

I have 2 VX6HD's and they are bad arse. I have the 4-24 TMOA on my 28 Nosler and absolutely love it. In fact I did have a Nightforce NSX on it but after shooting my buddies VX6HD i sold the Nightforce and get the Leupold. The other one is 3-18 with the firedot reticle that will go on this build. I opted for the tier 2 as well in 308. I think I would go with the TMOA on your 28 Nosler as that is a long range caliber and the TMOA is needed for wind hold.

ColinR, what rings and height did you go with for the 34mm tube on that scope?
That's the same one I got coming in as well.

Glass on VX5HD is made in China. Glass on VX6HD is made in Japan. All Leupold scopes below a VX5HD has chinese made glass, they had to do this to stay competitive.

The 4-24 VX6 is really really nice.

Vx6hd eye box is amazing. You can see great 3-18. If I didn’t already have a vx6hd for it I’d buy the mark5hd for it. Every bit up there with the atacr and $1450-1600 for either zoom ranges non illuminated. I don’t care to spend more then $1500 on my optics tho.

I got the VX-6HD 3-18x44 for last year's APR build and it's been great. Went with the TMOA reticle since it has hash marks for windage and elevation. Didn't think I'd use the illuminated reticle but it has been on for 5 of 6 animals shot with the rifle. Love it.
