    Hornady ammo

My Mossberg MVP loves the Hornady American Gunner 55gr HP. It shoots these in a 1/2” hole at 100yds. And I haven’t been able to find the American Gunners as of late & we have a coyote shoot in a week at friends ranch he works at. At academy they had the Hornady Black in 55gr BTHP on clearly so I picked up a few box’s. I cant find anything that says if there is a difference between the 2. Does any one know if there is a difference between them?

Bullets in the same weight category “generally” will perform the same. I would buy a box launch a few rounds and see. I suspect being a ballistic tip bullet the balance will be slightly off but within 1 MOA @ 100 yds. Ballistic tips generally push the center of the bullet weight slightly back, but not much.

Unsubstantiated rumors say that the black and American gunner are the same loads. Difference is the black is an academy exclusive. I’ve never found black on the Hornady website.
