6mm Super LR it's a basically a 6mm straight walled with a 30° shoulder it has a bit of a short neck for the heavies. It really shines with the 90 grain range of bullets which your twist should stabilize.

6mm AI or 6/06. 6mm Remington brass is getting scarce and the quality isn’t the best. The 1/10 twist will limit you to 95gr and less for longer range accuracy.

The only 6mm other than creedmoor I seriously considered was dasher (or another 6BR variant).

How much more would the 6-06 get me over the 6mm AI. Other than being able to make my own brass. 6-06 has limited does available also. Of course that really doesn’t bother me

It's just me talking but I don't think it's worth the trouble rechambering a factory 22" Savage barrel with a 1:10 twist into anything that's a big improvement over the original. If you choose a good aftermarket fast twisted .243" 26"+ barrel then you might be on to something.

Only cost I will have is the reamer rental. My buddy will do the work. He just turned his 223 into a 22-250 AI. Just trying to put two barrels to use rather than gather dust. I already have a 243 built for the heavies and a standard twist 243 just looking for a project. Guess I am just bored. If I like the cartridge I will build what I really want for it.

6/06 should be fun for a few shots

I had a 6-06 and sold it to a buddy. We finally decided on 6 Rem AI. Should be a fun little round and it’s only going to cost around $100 each so that’s not terrible for an experiment.

Should have the barrels back in a week or so. They are 6 Rem AI
