Adding rail to shotgun fore grip

Ok so just wanting to run an idea by you guys before I go drop $450 on a project shotgun for the house.

I am thinking about getting one of the little pistol versions of the Mossberg 590 in 20 gauge. But I want to add a light/laser combo to it. So my idea is to take a small piece of pic rail drill some holes in it and the front hand guard and rivet that joker to it to give me a rail for the light. Think it would work? Or does anyone have one they can look and see how thick that plastic is to see if it would handle a rivet?

Other idea was just get a normal scope rail on the top and mount light/laser offset on the top or just direct mount on top as you really won't be aiming it. More of a point and shoot in a house situation especially with a laser.

    Thoughts and opinions appreciated

I was thinking of getting one of the same pistols and mounting a light/laser on it as well. A buddy of mine bought one of these. With a light and laser this would really be good for home defense.
I have the mossberg 88 youth, in a 20 gauge. This is a different fore-end than the shockwave. But, I used 1/2” pointed screws and a little epoxy to mount a short scope rail on the fore end. The screws are short enough that they do not contact the barrel, I think you will have plenty of room to use rivets. I mounted a older streamlight on to the rail for now. I mounted the rail on the left at about an 7-8 o’clock position
