Brazman, I've shot a couple friends ARs. It's been many years though. What is it about them you like? Accuracy? Just the way they shoot?

I keep 405 WFN bullets and 400 grain soft point loaded to 1700 fps, they will handle anything that needs killing. I sight it in roughly 1" high at 100 and it is a tad low at 150.

I’m impressed with the AR’s versatility in so many categories- the number of caliber offerings, size (carbine/pistol/sbr), scope/red dot/iron sights, the ability to hold 10 or 20 or 30 rds, the semi auto action for follow up shots or groups of targets, and almost endless customization options. I’ve found mine to be adequately accurate- hunting accurate for sure.

Take the 300 BO, for instance. There’s something comforting in holding a rifle with similar ballistics to a 30-30, yet holding 30 rds X number of mags you feel like carrying around, when wading into hog country.

Ever thought about a Mini 14 Ranch Rifle? Not a lever action but Cheap ammo and extended mags available, minimal recoil.

I believe he wants to actually kill what he’s shooting at. Not just scare it off [emoji16]

Can’t go wrong with the 30-30. I have 2 win 94 and a marlin 336. One of the 2 is always in my truck. Both sport the 20” barrel but I am thinking of chopping the 94 down to 16”
