Holster for pistol with light on tactical rail

I’m looking at a cross chest holster for my XD45 and upcoming move to Montana. Guys who have the Guide’s Choice like them, since the gun can be worn with a pack and below a binocular pouch. It’s also always there if you take your pack off, or are answering nature’s call.

They don’t make them to have a rail- mounted light fit. I think when I’m in the back country it would be smart if I had a light on it. I can always carry a tactical light.

It made me wonder if any leather holsters will fit a gun with a light on the rail?

I carried the XD45 elk hunting in bear country loaded with Buffalo Bore 255 grain +P rounds. Not the KE of a 454 Casul of course, but more protection than bear spray when the bear is upwind of you. My choice would be to have my 450 Marlin with 405 grain Buffalo Bore rounds.

Carry your firearm confidently outdoors with the Kenai Chest Holster. Perfect for hiking, camping & hunting. Your ultimate outdoor companion.

I hear a lot of good stuff about these. They might be able to make one with a light

I would think a regular holster would be more comfortable with that gun/light setup than the rigs pictured. Having said that, I have never been in the back country and have no real experience. Those look like purpose built rigs for big bore wheel guns to make sure you keep it on you. I cannot imagine keeping a wheel gun like that on my side.

On second thought.. Looking at those pictures I am sure you could have a Kydex, or custom leather, holster for your pistol/light made that would attach via the screws on the harness.

I would contact Kramer Leather / Holster & ask if they could accommodate...you would likely have to specify which light you would use & maybe even send the flashlight in for the mold.

If they agree, get it made in the horsehide...good luck. I can promise you will appreciate the holster if they can do it. Not cheap but man do they make some top shelf leather. I cannot really get into the synthetics myself.

No personal experience, but from everything i've read these are the way to go for what you are looking for if it is compatible with your light.

                    Thanks.

I also want a chest holster for under my waders, fly fishing. My son spoke to a guy who was fishing in the middle of the Madison and an hour before a griz sow and cub crossed the river 100 yards from him.

I keep thinking about it and reading about griz attacks and maybe the cross chest for the purchase of a Redhawk Alaska in 454 Casul and finally being able to get a concealed carry permit- the XD 45.

I know a guy that was charged while floating the Blackfoot. A sow and cubs were on an elk carcass right around a bend and she bluffed charged them several times down the bank. Always makes me think twice in that area.

That will stain your waders. When I saw griz scratches on a tree 8 feet up I started to get concerned.
