Pulled the trigger at APR Saturday

I've researched and overthought this whole APR build thing and decided to make a little trip to Hurst, Texas to visit with Robert. I brought my wife so she could participate in the process, help with the choices and feel good about the expense. Even though Robert was sick, he spent time with me and in the end, I went with the Tier 2 6.5 PRC with the bronzy sponge finish and matching cerakote. We are doing the deep ratchet fluting. Every rifle is threaded but the seam where the thread cap attaches is invisible, very impressive. I am not planning to have a break at this point.

I'm thrilled to death to have APR build my first custom rifle. I haven't shot factory ammo in 35 years but Robert said the new precision hunter stuff shoots great. DocMay reported 0.5 groups. I suppose if I can wait to shoot 100 rounds of factory ammo, I will commence reloading. I can't remember ever buying a rifle and some factory ammo and just shooting without tweaking the powder, bullets and OAL. I may get twitchy and have to have some counseling but that is the plan as of today.

Thanks to Robert for the group buy option. I feel like I got a tremendous deal on a super rifle!

Tier 2 is not carbon its a steel barrel.

24" steel barrel. Robert suggested that since I was not running a can and am recoil averse but didn't want a muzzle break that the longer barrel would give me the velocity increase without having to increase powder and it would push the sound away from me and reduce the felt recoil a bit.

The ordering is not officially open yet but you can call or go by and get it done today! Come on in, the water's fine!

You didn't miss anything. The steel barrel versions were completely settled already. The CF version was the hold up. He had driven up to see the components in person, and wanted the steel build, so we went ahead and booked it while he was up here.

yep, i saw this before your other threads, sorry.

May June stings a little, just cuz of prairie dog season and me wanting the .22 Creed, 24" 7 twist Proof.

Anyone have a picture of the difference between deep fluting and regular?

This is an example of deep ratchet fluting: https://aprifles.com/products/ranger-6-5-creedmoor-4

They can also do shallow but it looks funny on a sendero barrel. The deep fluting takes off more weight and look coolio!

I'm wanting a long range hunting rifle most likely 300 win mag.. I'm debating on having a local guy I've known all my life build it or apr.. the local guy will retire soon so I'd like another one of his rifles. That's gonna be a sweet gun

Nice. I work about 10 minutes from there and have never stopped by. I think I’m afraid I’ll walk out broke. I’m tempted though, I’m in need of a long Range bolt gun for an elk hunt comin up.

Robert showed me around and my eyes bugged out when I saw the rifles in progress in every conceivable caliber, with every conceivable barrel length, material, fluting combination and with every stock color and pattern imaginable. Their shop was impressive. I told my wife that his store was my version of heaven.
