    Which AR

Well I eliminated the Ruger Mini Ranch over concerns of its accuracy so now I am Looking into an AR platform. Don’t want to break the bank—say $750 max. I have looked into the Bushmaster line—and I know I am opening a can of worms—but others to consider. Don’t need/want the long hand guard or all the tricks.

I got a cheap DPMS from Academy. Put a 4 rail handguard on it and then took it off cause it hurt my hand. Put the original back on. Nothing else but sling and scope., It will shoot moa.

I got a M&P15 Magpul edition a couple years ago for like $600 or $650 I think on sale. It’s a fun gun and have never had an issue with it. It’s one I don’t mind my nephews or new people going to the range/lease and shooting. It’s been beat up pretty good over the years and never missed a beat

For just a tad more, $792 plus tax, you can get a Larue rifle kit. All you need then is a stripped lower and you will be set. They are real shooters if you are not familiar with them. Quality and customer service is second to none, and they are made in Leander.

I went this route. If you provide your order number, you can order a LaRue stripped lower and resell it for some bucks that would put you within your budget comfortably. You'd get a sweet rifle with an awesome trigger for an AR.

That said, another strong route is the classifieds (TBH, Texas Gun Trader, GunBroker). Most guys are taking baths on ARs they built and you can get a whole lot of gun for $750.

I’d look real hard at this. On sale plus the $30 discount code make it a great deal. Pick you a hand guard, stock and you have a great rifle.

Shop semi-auto rifles (106) at Brownells, including popular AR-15, AR-10, and other models in popular calibers like .223, 5.56 NATO, and .308 Winchester.

The larue kit mentioned above is a great choice.

Also shop around for a colt 6920. The regular, trooper and OEM can all be found for close to your budget.

For the money this is a great one. Better trigger than your average AR. I’ve got one and had 0 issues.
Grab your Ruger AR-556 MPR 5.56mm Semi-Automatic Multi-Purpose Rifle for sale at Sportsman's Outdoor Superstore.

Also look at palmetto state Armory. Have a few of those that have been issue free

Check out Rock River Arms. They had the Advanced Tactical Hunter II on sale for $875. It's 3/4" gun @ 100yds. Some of their other models are under $800.

Honestly I’d build my own I have built several and most have been very accurate even the cheap builds shoot really good. I’m right down the road from you and can help you if your interested.

Thanks for all the advice---I ended up ordering a Ruger AR that is "optics ready" meaning it doesn't have that tall front sight as I was concerned it might interfere with the scope field of view.
I broke down and got the AR after being frustrated at my attempts to shoot runners with a bolt gun--a RH gun and I'm a lefty. The AR will fix that for sure.

So, all that is left is the wait, mounting the scope, getting to the range and doing the zero. Will need to figure out which ammo it likes too.
