Looking to buy a new scope for one of my deer rifles and was looking at the Swarovski Z5. Anyone have any experience with this scope? How did you like the ballistic turret?

The rifle will be used for hunting from a stand- shooting from 100-300 yards.

I just put one on a Sako .308, and thus far all I can vouch for is the glass itself. I've killed 2 deer with it, neither far enough to mess with the turret. The turret is super easy to set up though if you just sit down and do it. The glass itself is incredible, and really shows how awesome it is in low light situations.

I’ve got a few with the B&C recticle and it’s an awesome scope. I don’t think you need a ballistic turret for only out to 300yds, but if you prefer it, the turrets are great from the ones I’ve seen.

I have one on a CZ550 30-06. I don’t shoot it much. The glass is amazing. I haven’t used the turret at distance. Kenton makes turrets for them too. Great optic for the range you want.

I have two Z5’s both are BRH reticle so no experience with turrets but love the scopes

I have one but I think it is a little overkill for a 300 yard gun. Awesome scope, and easy to dial.

Don’t think you’ll need a ballistic turret unless you are shooting a big bore really slow rifle.

The glass is fantastic though.

Agreed at 300 and closer the turret will probably not be used. I just want the ability to stretch it out a little further. Mainly considering this scope for glass quality and low light conditions.
