    Smith & Wesson M&P AR15!

I’m really a novice when it comes to ARs but I love shooting them, so my girlfriend got me one for Christmas, what are some pros and cons of the S&W AR15? What attachments do y’all recommend as well as scopes. Thanks in advance

They are not bad AR's. Attachments and scopes or red dots would depend on what you plan to use it for.

Keep it as basic as possible. They get heavy when you start throwing junk on them. Put some sort of red dot on it and be done.

Main use would be hog hunting or the occasional possibility of a doe

For this I would add a 3-9 scope, upgrade the trigger and get a good 2 point sling.

          Done.

Somebody correct me if I’m wrong but doesn’t the M&P use several “proprietary” parts so that it isn’t truly mil-spec? Or is that the Ruger?

My experience is they will run any type of ammo without problems.

They are fine...1st one we every got was the S&W...and that was years ago. Never jammed, reliable. Just remember, prices on AR'S are NOT near as high as they were before the current POTUS and his 2nd Amendment support!

They were TOO high during the previous POTUS for obvious ANTI-GUN stand. The AR 556/223 is my truck gun and it's the S&W with a custom paint job by my military son.

M&P's are good mid tier units. Good platform for average hunting or plinking especially for the cost. Have had a couple of lowers and used parts from others that have been normal mil spec. Don't know of any real cons and wouldn't hesitate to buy or own one. Awesome gift from your girlfriend for sure.

Personal preference on accessories but would consider a trigger change and possibly a floating hand guard rail. As for other accessories, this guy pretty much covers it all.......

I’ve got an M&P and really like it. It’s a very solid rifle IMO. I don’t run a lot of rounds through it but after installing a drop in Timney trigger, it’s capable of 1” groups @ 100 with bulk ammo. As stated earlier, if you hang too much crap on it (like I have) it gets too heavy to pi$$ ant around.
