I don’t think pointing out facts is getting butt hurt but call it what you want.

The marketing folks behind it I hope are reaping the benefits they have earned it.

If you have to go out of your way to make fun of something seriously then it’s obviously ruffling a few feathers. I understand joking in good fun. (Should’ve clarified that earlier haha). Facts are simple. It’s nothing amazing like a lot of people make it out to be, but to deny it’s advatages is just as foolish. It’s a solid choice, but it’s not THE choice that many make it out to be.

Here’s a question for some of you. Name one other caliber that you can grab a sub $25 box of ammo and take a factory rifle out and shoot 1400 yds consistently? I can name a few calibers that will do the work, but they’re not coming anywhere close to $25 a box.

By factory rifle I’m speaking of Bergara HMR, Seekins Havak, Ruger PRP, etc. Yes they’re higher end, but they still shoot impressive for the money.

Yes I posted this in another thread , still have not changed my mind

“Why 6.5 mm instead of .30 caliber? Put simply, they sling the long, slim, high-BC 6.5 mm bullets at respectable velocity. It duplicates or beats the .300 Win Mag’s trajectory with less recoil than a .308 Win. Compared to the 175 Sierra MK fired from a .308 Win, the 6.5 mm will have 27% less wind drift and about 10 MOA less drop at 1000 yards. Despite a 35-grain deficit in bullet mass, the 6.5 CM will retain 18% more energy and hit the target 260 fps faster.”

Then add in ammo cost . Marketing keeps coming up its not just marketing that made the 6.5 a caliber that will be here long after many others are gone.

It just works its a slight twist based on other calibers . You take the good and the bad from many other calibers and the 6.5 is the test tube baby . And they swung for the fences to produce a new caliber and its still going and going and going .

hating it will never change how effective the caliber really is .

the 260 VS 6.5 is nothing new I feel you have to say box ammo or handload For box ammo is less costly , performance wise for the most ranges guys shoots not a difference to be had .

Both great rounds one just gained more traction than the other and in todays world you can google all the NEW stuff when the 260 came out that part was not as popular .

people go out and buy a new car as this year it has some new blue tooth whaaa hoosit that allows them to start the car or lock the doors while they are on a plane heading to china . Who cares well some do and it works .

I have nothing against the 260 I just think it funny how the topic stirs the pot .

Hope everyone has a great holiday heading to Iowa . BRRRRRRRR

A $1000 dollar rifle and a$1000 scope and then you are going to feed it $25 a box hunting ammo, not even $35 dollar a box match ammo, cause you are worried about saving money. I have seen people shoot to 1400 yards and i think my idea of "consistently" and yours is way different.

If you are saying you are shooting MOA at 1400 consistently with hunting ammo, i am going to be inclined to call BS. I have seen a lot of misses at that distance in match conditions with fully rigged guns set up for just that type stuff. If you can however, you should go win some money

I think that it is not the 6.5 CM that people have issue with, it tends to be the hype around the cartridge that people don't believe and get tired of listening to. I am not saying it sucks though, just for hunting it offers no real advantage over a ton of other cartridges that are out there

I’m all for good fun haha but I’ve seen enough guys get actually offended by it. Hell I finally jumped in last week just so I wouldn’t have to load for everything I shoot, and I went 6 Creed instead of 6.5 for the lack of recoil. Afterall it does “belong” to the wife

Lol match ammo for the Creed can be had for $22 a box. I’m pretty sure my idea of consistent is well within yours, but is yours within mine? If you’re scoffing at $1000 rifle and $1000 scope I’d question that. It was only a 3 shot group, as that’s all I had left at the time. I still shot a sub 5” group at 1020 on Wednesday with factory $22 a box match ammo. I’ve also laid a sub 4” 5 shot group at 1541 with my hand loads in my 6.5 SAUM. I’ll let you be the judge of what you think is consistent.

Women tend to really like the lower recoil firearms.

That is 6 CM, not 6.5, but I bet you are right on the 6.5 for under 25 a box. I looked at midway and it was $30-40. And no i don't scoff at the rifle/scope combo, i was laughing at the fact that if you are spending 2 grand on a rifle/scope, saving $3 on ammo for 300 mag match seemed pointless (seems too cheap i know but the same place you listed has 300 for 28 a box). I have seen 300 mags win at a mile and i dont think a 6.5 creed will ever do it. Once again, i think the 6.5 CM is a fine, but somewhat overrated. And i do think the 6mms will be the go to in 1000 yard comps, the people in the know are already winning with them, because anything that can be said about the 6.5 at 1000, is even more true for the 6s. Pretty sure it was a 243 Winchester that set the European record the other day.

PS you shoot well, you should go win some matches. Anything under moa at those distances is dang impressive to me. I didn't know if you were one of th e guys ringing a 36" plate at 1000 yards and then saying you had a 1000 yard gun
