Honestly, I don’t have enough shooting time behind this rifle to say “yes or no” on CF barrels. ABS barrels are no longer made so it’s a catch-22 for me ... if this barrel shoots one-hole I can’t buy a duplicate ABS barrel. If accuracy sucks or there’s a defect in the barrel or CF I have no recourse for replacement. Since I bought this rifle used, I’ll expirament with some more range time and field use to base my future buying opinion.
Pretty much all of my custom rifles are single-shot with Sendero or larger barrel contours, weighing 10.5 to 12 lbs with optics. I’ve owned most of the top barrel brands: HART, Shilen, Krieger, Bartlein, PacNor, HART, Lilja, etc... and have no problem shooting heavy rifles. Based on physics, a heavier rifle will shoot smaller groups than a lighter rifle.
If I had to choose between a CF barrel ($725) and a select match grade stainless steel barrel ($350), I’d buy the stainless barrel all day long because of the price difference and already proven accuracy.
I just built a 308 with a Stiller action and proof carbon fiber barrel. It'll shoot a one hole group at 100 and shot a baseball size group at 800 Friday. They're great shooting barrels but I could've probably gotten the same results out of a bartlein too
