Trying to help a buddy

Last weekend I was invited to go run dogs with a buddy and his hunting group. Long story short my buddy damaged his rifle. I'm not sure if it was from the excitement of the chase or getting in and out of the buggy. The butt of his rifle stock split and broke off where the swivel stud is located. I suggested he get a laminated stock or a Mc millan. He said he wanted to keep it the same way his grand daddy gave it to him. So if anyone has a Remington Model 700 BDL style walnut stock for a 270 win caliber rifle hanging around they want to part with please let me know. Ya'lls help is greatly appreciated.

In that case I would track down a good wood shop or gun Smith and see if it is possible to repair it. Would be able to keep the original wood then and have a good story to go with it.
