        40 SW
        180 grain xtp
        7.9 grains longshot
1225 fps and 600FPE out of a 5 inch barrel

I call this my "who needs a 10mm" load.

Turns the 40 into a beast and you can shoot it in a small frame gun, if you can hang on to it haha

45.8 of IMR 4064 has done extremely well for me out of a DPMS Oracle.

Here are some of my specialized loads.

First is my latest 5.56 AR load.
The most important part of this load is the bullet, I have found the Speer 52 gr. hollow point is amazing in my rifle. Which is a Bushmaster, with I think a 1 in 9 twist. The shape of that bullet allows it to come much closer to the rifling, than other bullets, when loaded to lengths that will still feed with AR magazines. Once I found this bullet, I have loaded all types of powders behind it, the accuracy has not changed much, but velocity has. Typically I get 1/4" to 3/8" groups at 100 yards, with any powder I have used. I have loaded IMR 4064 behind this bullet at one point. Then for years I used IMR 3031, because my 5.56 AR, is a 16" barreled carbine. I was trying to reduce the huge muzzle flash and reduce the noise, then hoping for more velocity. The velocity was not impressive with the 3031, but it did reduce the muzzle flash and noise. I have also used Winchester 748 for years, that worked great, I got a noticeable increase in muzzle velocity over the IMR 3031. Lately I have I have been using Leverevolution, that has bumped the velocity some over the Winchester 748.

                So my current load is
                52 gr. Speer hollow point
                27 gr. of Leverevolution
                PMC 223 cases
                Remington 7 1/2 primers
                2.247 OAL"
                Muzzle velocity average 3085

Another of my specialized loads is my 30-30 load for my 18" barrel Contender, so this load should only be used in a single shot 30-30, it would probably work in some of the old bolt action 30-30s, but I would not use it in a tubular lever action. This is a great deer load.

                Bullet 125 Nosler Ballistic tip
                powder 40 gr. of Leverevolution
                case Federal
primers Winchester large rifle standard 8 1/2
                OAL 2.835"
                Muzzle velocity average 2694

                  I'll try this.
I just knocked out my first hand loads for 223. They pretty much just mimic factory loads, with a 2" group. I used Win 748 because I already use it for my 222. Bullets were 55gr fmj by Remington. Just plinking rounds.

Before I discovered that bullet, my AR would shoot a best of 1 1/2" groups, typically with good ammo 2" groups. Since I found that bullet, I have not used any other bullet in that rifle, unless I was just plinking.
The 748 powder has been one of the best powders I have used in that gun. For years there, I did not have a chornograph, after my first one broke. That's when I was experimenting with the 3031. I had no idea how low the velocity was with that powder. Either the 3031 or the 4064 was only pushing that bullet out the muzzle at 2450 fps. I am pretty sure it was the 3031. Sometime after I got the chronograph three to four years ago. I shot some of my 223 loads through the chronograph. The rounds I knew were loaded with 748, shot around 3000 fps. Then I found some older ammo I had loaded years earlier. I fired one batch through the chronograph, that stuff gave me 2700 fps. I am betting that was when I was using 4064. Then I found some old loads that only produced 2450 fps. I was shocked they were that slow, but it explained some things. Back when I was loading the 3031, I shot a coyote up the rear, that little 52 gr. hollow point, went all the way through the coyote up into it's skull. The only way that made any sense, was the bullet had to be moving pretty slow, too slow to explode, like that bullet was designed to do.

Even with that large variation in velocity, that bullet has had great accuracy out of my gun through out that whole range of various velocities.

This is a link to Midway, they list that bullet, but Speer does not on their web site.

Sierra lists a bullet that looks very similar in design, that should work just as well, but it's a 55 gr. boat tail hollow point. Someday I want to try that bullet.

Yeah, I looked last night and saw that that bullet was not on the Speer site. Odd.
