    Another “Creedmore” thread

Y’all think this 6.5 Creedmore is here to stay?

I notice a variety of factory ammunition for it that the 7mm-08 or other calibers never saw.

    I’ve seen it in Walmart

I always thought the ammunition companies had a direct effect on the success of a cartridge and why they push one to success over another always baffles me.

It’s here for the long run for sure. Too many rifles being sold in that caliber for it to die off

Yeah, I noticed even CVA is producing a Scout in the caliber, and yes many others.

It isn't going anywhere. As mentioned above WAY too many rifles have been sold for it to go away. Every man bun wearin guy on the planet bought several. (I own one as well, and I dont have enough hair on my head to make a bun)

I can see where it makes sense to some degree but it does baffle me what succedes and is pushed by manufacturers.

The man bun thang is funny though.

            You are "misspelling" it.

              Is this 2012?

SOCOM is moving to from 7.62x51 to 6.5 Creedmoor in 2019 for semi-auto sniper rifles and DHS is adopting the round as well.

I think it'll be around for a while.

I think it’s here to stay as many have taken it on as a bench gun. Lots of other options are better as a true hunting caliber but the marketing folks behind the 6.5 have earned their pay.

Strong marketing and solid manufacturer support definitely propped it up. But the fact that it does exactly what it was intended to do will keep it around. Anybody want to buy a pile of worn out 6.5 reamers?

It’s here to stay. I held out as long as I could, but I have to admit that I’m a fan of the 6.5 manbun.

Yep...here to stay...buy one, play with it, shoot it and if you don't like it...sell it on the GS! I'm kidding, a little, but the boys and I have the CM AND the Grendel and we like 'em a bunch!

"But, like you mentioned Walley World," I've never seen any Walmart stock the same ammo or firearms, depends on management I have been told. Almost like Academy regarding ammo, etc., most of their sales folks are a little SUBSTANDARD on knowledge! And by the way, at least in my experience for anyone in the Weatherford, West Fort Worth, Granbury area...try Gibson's in Weatherford. Momma and I bought some Hornady ammo from them yesterday and they were $5 cheaper than Academy and had several different brands of both 6.5 CM/Grendel IN STOCK!

It’s here at the moment and once the craze dies down it will slowly fade out to a “new”, “perfect for everything caliber” in 5 or 10 years. It won’t disappear by no means but I don’t think it will be like other calibers such as .30-06, .270, .300, .223 that are literally in every store that sells ammo.

                          This

                          1. It puts *ideal* wound channels in the deer, pigs, and exotics we hunt. I wouldn't want it to hit any harder or softer for general hunting.

                          2. The recoil is right up to the line where it would be noticeable, but below it. So you can shoot it all day and not notice.

                          3. Rifle after rifle, they shoot really really well. "Inherently accurate" is a funny concept, but it's uncanny in the real world. See RAP threads.

The reason I started this is because midwayusa for example shows 26 different offerings for 7-08, 49 for the OLD 243, and already 51 for the 6.5 Creedmoor.

Thats pretty substantial, I thought it would be a fad too but I’m leaning toward its here to stay.

“Ideal wound channels” is subjective to me. I’m mainly a Big Bore user that shoots game maybe out to 150 yards. I’ve never been a fan of the slim high SD bullets for hunting. I’m not saying they are bad but after much experience with them for my purpose I feel one must select projectiles very carefully or you get an in and out pencil hole because the bullet didn’t expand very much.
