The more I think about it the more I like the idea of the light build.

With the lightweight taking an early lead, a few questions:

                1. Accuracy potential of the CFB compared to steel?
                2. I assume you can easily paint the CF stock?
                3. Long action? I thought I saw that the G2 was only a short action.

Also, what is the expected barrel life in one of these carbon fiber barrels? Not that I will ever shoot one out, just wondering incase someone does a lot more shooting than me every year.

I vote heavy and a short action to accommodate a 6.5 SAUM

We can probably keep it close, but I doubt we can get under that without giving up either a custom action, cut-rifled barrel or higher end stock. We are able to save some $$ on actions this time even with the Curtis versions being pretty much at cost last year. Barrel costs will be about the same on steel, or a little bit higher with carbon. The grayboe from last year was about the best for the $$ at the time, but we have a chance to get a MUCH nicer/lighter CF stock on this one for not much more money than last year's. I think we can pull off a carbon/carbon build for a similar price as last years. If it comes in a couple hundred more, it will still be cheaper by about $1K than anything out there in the custom world on that type of build.

Another option would be a carbon/steel build for a lighter mid-weight rig with the APR contour. It would come in right under 7 lbs and be a little cheaper.I hate going any smaller on the contour since most guys are going to want a threaded muzzle. Ratchet fluting would take out the most weight.

in that case no one will be able to pass this deal up.
