Yes I know everyone loves their 6.5mb. But what kind of groups are you guys getting from your Ruger American 22's? Looking to buy a 22 bolt gun with a threaded barrel and I think this is the direction I may go.
No experience with the .22, but with my dads .17 hmr I was able to shoot the stems of thistles, shoot a coon in the eye, and get 3 headshots in a row on prairie dogs at 150 yards. It’s a shooter! Scary accurate little rifle. I’ve been wanting to pick one up in .22 lr to plink around with.
I have RAR's in .22lr Compact and .22mag, both are decently accurate. Have used the .22lr as a squirrel gun and it did it's job on head shots to 50 yards with CCI mini mags and SV.
I have the compact in 22 mag. Holds about a 2 1/2 inch group at 100yrds. Pretty sure if I played some with different Ammo Brands I could get it to shoot better but it’s plenty good to head shoot hogs at 30 to 40 yrds.
I have the wood stocked version in 22lr and it shoots pretty good with standard velocity ammo. I also have the plastic stocked one in 22mag, its does real good with CCI ammo. I keep the 22mag on my Mule all the time.
I love my heavy threaded barrel 22lr American. I got one that is a distributor special. it has green plastic stock with gloss blued finish with threaded barrel
