I have a Remington 700 ADL in .243. It shoots 85gr Sierra Flat Base spritzers over 44 gr H4831 at I believe 3,100 fps but I haven't used a chronograph. Before I rebarrel it in a 6.5 or 7-08, I want to try and shoot heavier bullets for hogs and deer out to 400 yards. I think the 1:9.25 twist rate will stabilize the heavier bullets although I've never tried.
I need a bullet and powder recommendation to give me accuracy at higher velocity, ideally 100 gr and 3,000 fps. I assume a flat base bullet would allow more powder? Partitions perform well in my .300 WinMag.
I do have the following powders in stock: H4831, H4350, H4895, H335 and IMR4064 but I have no problem making a powder run to an unnamed local supplier.
Thanks.
