T/C 204 help

I have a T/C venture in .204. Wife and I are getting ready to head to the back to do a little pig hunt. Loaded the magazine put in the rifle. Went to put shell in chamber and bolt will not close, stops about 3/16” short.
I’ve tried
1. New shells, no work
2. Took all shells out, works like it should
3. Took mag out, works.
4. Forgot first thing I did was check bore and open and clean.
5. Took bolt out it appears fine

Any suggestions?

Are they reloads?

I know this sounds pedantic, but make sure the shells are actually .204. You wouldn't be the first.

I Checked they are .204
The first in the mag are 1 month old factory Hornady. Even tried a new unopened box.

check it with a bore light and also an empty case to see if it will chamber correctly,
