OP - if you have a change of heart on cartridge choice, I'm fixing to sell my custom 6BR . May sell the entire rifle or part it out. Stiller Predator S.S. repeater action, 23" Kreiger S.S. 1:8" Rem Varmint contour, Manners T5A pillar and glass bedded, shoots the Berger 105 VLD's in the .3's off a bipod with no load workup. Barreled-action has a black moly resin finish. Price will be a little more than $2000 as replacement cost is $3300 as pictured.

I see a couple of post about carbon barrels, are you really gaining anything by going to the carbon barrel as a hunting rifle? I had a buddy post on a gun forum about this and the weight is not much lighter than a thinner fluted barrel. The bling of a carbon is there but as a long range, light weight hunting rifle is there an advantage to the carbon barrel? A hunting rifle does not get the consecutive round count like a competition gun.

I bought a Ridgeline in 300 wm last year and I am very pleased with it. A man could use to ship them a barrel they already had and they would wrap it...
That's where they had most of the problems I believe. I know Long Range Only did a custom build using a Christensen barrel and they seem to be very satisfied. I, too, am wanting a 6.5 and having a hard time deciding whether to go with the Ridgeline or APR.

Call Lance at Mumme's and get his opinion. He's all about long range hunting, mostly with a 6.5. He's sold a ton of Coopers and has nothing but great things to say about them. Many are 1 hole guns, all are sub .5". Mine shoot .4" on the 1st load down the pipe. I'm planning to play around with it this fall to see how tight it will get.

Picked up a second hand never shot Christensen Arms Mesa Long Range 300 Win Mag for $1k. Already have glass for it now just need to figure out which ammo she likes.
I(girlfriend is headed to pick it up now as I am overseas working lol) just picked up a second hand Mesa as well, in 6.5 though. The guy that bought it did the barrel break in and decided to go a diff route. Got it for $1,075. I can't wait to get home and get my hands on it. What scope/mounting set up did you go with?

I've been contemplating the Christensen Arms route as I've shot my buddy's Ridgeline and really like that rifle. I was leaning towards the Mesa without the carbon fiber barrel in the $1200 range. This will likely be the nicest rifle I ever own so I have been thinking about upping my budget to $2k (hard stop at that amount), but I am not familiar with many gun makers in that range. Wishing I would have been able to get in on the APR TBH special. What else is out there in that range that is "semi custom" or even a nicer production rifle. Outside of the APR special can I even get into something custom for that amount? I'm pretty dead set on the 6.5 Creedmoor and it will be used mostly as a hunting rifle but also enjoy dinging some steel plates out to 800 yards or so.
