Barrett FC 6.5X55 and 130 gr. Scirocco load question...

I"ve posted this on another forum, but wanted to get the green screen's advice.

I've been loading the 130 gr. Scirocco in my 6.5x55 Barrett. My COAL has been 3.00 which is the same as the factory Swift ammo. Is anyone else loading this bullet in their Barrett and if
    so what is your COAL?

My load yesterday was 44.9 gr. H 4831 and it shot a little less than 1 MOA. I'm thinking about seating out the bullet a little more and see what happens. I may go to 3.010

My COAL to the lands is 3.102. I started by backing off the lands 0.030 the first loads with IMR 4350 and RL 19 and seated them 0.010 deeper each subsequent load until I've reached the 3.000 length, same OAL as the factory loads. None of the subsequent loads have produced any better than 1 MOA. I"ve tried IMR 4831 and, on Swift's recommendation H4831. The H4831 load at 44.9 gr. got me the .75 MOA seated to 3.000

I guess I'll start back at .030 off the lands with the H4831 load and seat deeper 0.010 for subsequent loads and see what happens.

Funny thing is I got a .185 group with 42.0 gr. IMR 4350 in my initial loadings. I have not been able to duplicate that so I figure I just jerked the trigger just right while the guy next to me was blasting away with his .308 AR and muzzle brake.

I'm using Redding Dies and need a micrometer bullet seater. Do I order the one for VLD bullets or standard?

Why don’t you try them at .01 off the lands? .03 is a big jump. You didn’t list any velocity numbers either. Have you watched your SD in all this testing? Primer change can help as well as neck tension. Primer pockets. Flash holes. Case sorting. Chasing tiny groups takes a lot of factors. I’m sure you know all this just bringing them up in case you missed a step

I've thought about that, but Swift recommended 0.030-0.070 of the lands. I was getting 2660-2740 depending on powder. I've been experimenting with 4831 both IMR & H, IMR 4350 and RL19.

I may try a primer change. I've got some Remington 9.5's and I believe I got some WLR. Primer pockets are uniformed and flash holes deburred as well.

What brass? What primer are you currently using? Big CCI fan here. BR2 is what I would try. And I’d still get closer to the lands. You don’t know what reamerthey used. That’s half the battle there on what bullets it’ll like.

Brass is Hornady. It's all I could find at first. Using CCI 200 primers, but I have some Rem 9.5'2 and I think WLR's hanging around.

            I’d weight sort that brass.
