    Cabela Scopes?

Any opinion on their scopes? Looking to replace a Vortex I have.

I wouldn’t . My brother has one and it’s just terrible in low light . I was sitting next to him with a bushnell of conparable price and I could see when he couldn’t . I’d stick to a vortex .

Depends which model. Some are made by vortex, some are meopta, some are the same factory that makes Burris and a couple others I believe.

I believe that the Alaskan guide series is meopta and the intrepid is vortex

Their higher end scopes are made by Leupold

My son's deer rifle was the cheapest one we could afford - a Remington 783 in .308 Winchester, and a Cabella's Alpha scope I had in the safe, but unmounted and still in the box (4x12 with BDC). That rifle is a tack driver and has been a deer and hog killing machine. My son won't let me switch the scope out for a Leupold or a Nikon (both are my favorite brands). I really like the Nikon scopes and I think they're very close to the Leupold in clarity and light gathering ability. I currently have a Vortex (2x7?) mounted on my 6.8 SPC-II, and I'm thinking about switching the scope out for another Cabella's Alpha scope I bought on sale last winter.

Oh, I just remembered, the rubber scope ring on the ocular lens on my son's scope was coming off of the scope. I was tempted to glue it back in place, but decided to call Cabela's Customer Service first to see if my "repair" would void the warranty. The CS rep said I could either take the scope in to any Cabela's or Bass Pro Shop and exchange it for a brand new scope now, or I could try to repair it, and if the repair didn't work, I could still exchange the scope for a new one. Luckily, my glue job (dab of saw setting Krazy Glue) worked.

              Good luck,

              Dave

I would be a little leary of them unless you went with a higher end one. Vortex made or makes a model for them called the intrepid. The BIL and I cashed in on them when they were on sale. They are supposedly in between Vortex's razor and viper lines and we have both been pretty impressed with them. Some others that are pretty good quality for a good price are SWFA and Sightron. Sightron makes an Stac series that I have been real impressed with as well.

I thought meopta used to make them and they had some good stuff back then but I never really researched it so it could have been BS.

Their old Euro line was made by Meopta and excellent. Their Alpine, Alaskan Guide and other cheap lines are poo. I’ve returned two for refund and swore off Cabelas scopes. They put their name on someone else’s(unknown mfr) scope. Stick to name brands that you know what you’re getting.

I had one of the Covenant line for a few months. It worked well for a while, then would start to loose focus after a shot (6.5MB with a can)Ended up returning it and putting that towards an Athlon Ares 4.5-27 mil/mil. Love that scope. Crystal clear, no problem picking up steel targets at 1100 yards. Tracking is spot on all the way there as well.
