I like the NF SHV. MOAR reticle works well. Exposed turrets basically means check them before you shoot. I like the idea of a locking turret. I’ve had my wimdage turret spin 180 degrees pulling out of a soft case.

Simplest way is to dial elevation and hold wind. Wind constantly changes. Yardage usually won’t and if it’s moving you should have time.

You need to decide on mil or moa. I’d suggest first focal plane for the reason I just stated. I’ve found myself shooting to distance on lower powers. Do that with second focal plans and the subtensions are off. MOST not all scopes in SFP are designed to hold that value at max magnification. FFP stays constant on all powers.

For what you describe I’d go with a Leupold VX3 4.5-14x40mm only because you said it would be packed a lot. I have this scope and I also have a Mark 4 4-16x50mm and the VX3 is just as clear at high magnification as the Mark 4 and I have ran the box test with it and it did great so I have confidence in its ability to dial if necessary.

I would agree with this. I’m running the LRP on my APR build.

I ended up ordering a Nightforce SHV 4-14X50 F1 MOA FFP Illuminated from Nightforce. It should be here in the next two weeks.

I have the Leupold VX6 with firedot windplex and NF NXS with MOAR scope. They're both solid scopes. Leupold is easier to see through in real low light vs NF. Also Leupold VX6 is about 10-12oz lighter if you're trying to build a light weight gun. NF is awesome and built like a tank and the repeatability of the turret is great. I do have a G7 BR2 Rangefinder that I use with my long range guns. I feel it or similar rangefinders are a MUST. I shot an elk at 800yds last year straight on and had no doubt in my mind about making a good shot cause I trusted my equipment. It's very important to practice and know your shooting setup before heading out of state hunting. And even shoot it when you get to your destination. I'll usually find a dirt clog or small rock on hill side 5-600yds and fire one shot to make sure all is good.
