    Shot my .375 Ruger today

Ammo came today so I shot it once before I got ready for work.
It had a good shove to it. The recoil wasn’t too bad but I wouldn’t want to shoot it off the bench all day.
I was using the 270 grain Superformance ammo from Hornady.
I would say it will handle any hog I may ever come across and would be a sweet bear rifle.

That's a fantastic bullet. It will work on pretty much anything needs shooting with a .375 except Cape buffalo and the like.

Pretty sure 375 Ruger is approved on Buffalo too. Budy decided he wanted a more available round when he went to Africa in case ammo got lost but it was very nearly his choice

The 375 H&H and the 375 Ruger are a very good Cape Buffalo cartridge. That being said, you would want to shoot at least a 300 grain bullet from the PH's I have talked to.
Out of my 375 H&H I have worked up a 300 gr Barnes TSX using RL15 powder and it is a great combination and very accurate in my rifle.

I will be getting dies before too long and will be doing a lot of googling info on reloads.

              You're ahead on me here.

My next rifle for Alaska and Canada for bear/caribou. Few down here have ever heard of this caliber.

I wouldn't hesitate to use less than a 300 grain .375 bullet on a Cape buffalo. The old 300 grain myth harkens from the days when only cup and core bullets were available and is perpetuated by PHs who know little, if anything, about ballistics. A 270 TSX or 250 or 270 A-Frame would work nicely ought to work nicely. The 270 Hornady SP likely would too, but the others are just much stouter bullets and given the nature of the game I think I would feel better with those.

Remember, too, the difference between a 270 and 300 grain bullets is only 10%. If that makes a difference, there was probably a poor choice already made. It's kinda like a couple hundred feet per second velocity. If the difference between a .308 and a .30-06 matters at normal hunting ranges, then you've probably got a bigger problem.
