I have 9 different Meoptas . They all have been great scopes. No complaints. But again you don't see very many people running them . Why is that?

The NEW $180 Freedom is just as good as a $400 VX IIIi was?
What about all the poor slobs that bought a $400 VX IIIi last month, year, before Leupold down graded the VX IIIi to a $180 Freedom. Too bad so sad.

Why doesn't the Freedom have a Leupold medallion on it?

So the consensus is everyone has their own preference.

You have no idea what you are talking about. Leupold didn’t downgrade anything.

The freedom uses the PREVIOUS GENERATION VX3 glass.

The VX3i is an upgrade to the VX3.

Back in the 70s & 80s when Leupold made the Vari-XIIc the quality of the glass was way better and probably not made in Japan.
As far as coatings. You can polish a **** but it's still a ****.
The quality of the glass on my 40 year old Vari-X IIc is far superior to that of BOTH of the brand new VX-IIIi Leupold sent me.
Heck I even "upgraded" one of my replacement 3.5-10x40 VX-IIIi scopes to a 4.5-14x40 for a $100. My 40 year old "technology" Vari-XIIc that Leupold cleaned up and sent back is better than that one also.
As far as coatings. You can put lipstick on a pig but it's still a pig.
Yes I'm very happy Leupold honored their warrantee. Yes Sir I am! Heck they even sent me a free hat.

I’m not even going to argue with you. You don’t have a clue. I am in the industry and you are wrong.

VX 1, 2, and 3’s top most of my hunting rifles. I have never seen a reason to change.
And, anytime I used Leupold’s customer service they were top notch.

You are correct Sir. I do not have a clue what I'm taking about. I do not believe I ever claimed I did. I am not a scope "expert". I'm just some Bozo trying to figure this out. I do feel much better now that someone in the "industry" has straighten me out. Yaz Sir! Hum you don't want to argue with me but yet here we are.
PS I will say this till the day I die. My thousand year old Vari-XIIc is a way better scope than the VX IIIi (s) I got as warrantee replacements.
                      I still love Leupold scopes.
                      Dez da goodest!

I read elsewhere the Freedom uses VX2 glass. Either way, that's likely going to be my next scope.
