I love my. .257 mag and my. .270.... Don't think you could go wiring there but.......
For a Very Fast, very flat shooting and hard hitting and accurate rifle with EXTREMELY MILD recoil consider the 6.5 creedmore. Simply an awesome round

      Man this is old thread.

Just to close the loop on this...

I decided on a Thompson Center so that I could change the barrels. I bought a 22-250 barrel and just stuck with it.

My kids are 15(daughter), 12(son) and 8(son) now and have killed many deer with it. My youngest son just shot his first doe this year with it and my oldest son got his first nice buck this year.

I would shoot a mule deer with my 257 Weatherby and Barnes bullets all day and twice on Sunday.

I'd shoot anything smaller than my truck with a .257 Wby.....and I drive a sizeable truck.

Well... my stocker 257 weatherby mag Vanguard w/ ultra light contour barrel against my built 300 with a moderate contour? Yeah its pretty darn close in recoil. They're both belted mags derived from the same round (375 H&H) and only a .071 difference in case length between the two...

Just my opinion between two guns that I shoot.

I'd shoot anything with a Barnes TSX or banded solid... with no hesitation.
