    Reloading the 6.5 Grendel

I reload several of the 6.5 rounds. I load the 6.5 creedmoor and my 6.5x55 with 140 gr Nosler. My 6.5x284 is loaded with 130gr Nosler accubond. But with my Grendel I’m thinking a lighter load in 100gr Nosler. I have good load data for the 100gr but was wondering if anyone else has shot a lighter weight bullet with any good results.

    Thanks

I like the 123 SSTs. There are a couple of guys on here that also like the 100gr Noslers as well. IMO you can't go wrong with either.

I’ve shot the 100 grain Barnes TTSX with good success but I’ve gone back to 120-130 class bullets. Seems pointless to give up the high BC of the 6.5mm by going to the lighter bullets.

The 129 grain ABLR seems like it was made for the Grendel with its lower velocity expansion threshold.

        Following.

I decided to go with the 123gr SSTs after shooting the factory loads. They did excellent on paper and dropped a doe in her tracks. I bought CFE223 for powder, have all the cases prepped, but haven't had the time to put together some rounds and go shoot. I'd be interested to see what everyone else is using.

I’m running 123 SSTs like I mentioned and Comp powder. Been happy with it so far but I gotta buy some new brass.

The SST's are fragile if they get some speed

I’m using 120 Sierra and 120 NBT. Initial load of 27gr of H335 shot tight group. Haven’t been able to get back out to shoot anymore.

ID:	24540115The best load for my 16" barrel was 23.5 grains of H322 with 120 grain nosler ballistic tip. Also what improved accuracy the most was seating the bullets as far as possible with no crimp.

My best group so far came from 123 gr Amax over 28 gr CFE 223. I managed to shoot 1 group with it then I installed a PRS stock. I had to move my scope back some to get the proper eye relief and I haven't made it back to the range yet.

                      One more question

I am shooting a 24” S/S barrel on my AR. All the load data I’m getting is on a 16”. The more barrel length should cause more pressure, so I should try a tad less powder. Am I correct on this.

Shooting 123 SST's with CFE223 with great success

Well we are talking about the Grendel, so that won't be an issue......

I had one with a 24" barrel. My experiences were just so-so

Used these in my creedmoor and they didn't do well. Will try in the Grendel with the low expansion speed
