    Cooper triggers

So I have several Coopers including the two that I had made for my boys (there is a thread on those around here somewhere). I love em. They are great. My question has to do with the triggers. They aren’t bad but they aren’t great. But I’ve always thought that I’d swap them for a Jewell or Timney CE if I came across one that was made for a Cooper.

A while back I picked one up in 300 WM that had a Timney in it. Picked it up and threw it in my safe. Last night I was piddling and decided to pull the stock off and see if the barreled action would work with a spare Excalibur stock that I have (it didn’t). While I had it out I stared looking at the trigger. Everything about this trigger appears to be the same as a Timney for a Remington 700. Check out the pics and tell me if I’m wrong. I’d love to have the option to grab any 700 compatibles trigger for my Coopers.

Coopers I have, the action looks different. The safety has a screw thru the side and the trigger hanger is screwed onto the receiver. I have all of my Coopers set at 1 lb (Lyman digital scale) and they are better than any Timney I've felt.

I've only owned the older Coopers when Dan still had the company (1990-2008). Those newer actions look nothing like what XR650 posted. I have no clue if a modern day 700 drop-in trigger will work for the current Cooper. I'd call them and ask.

A little Cooper history... around 1992, Dan contracted Arnold Jewell to make 400 custom triggers that would drop-in the Cooper M38 and M21/22 action. Due to a pizzing contest between the two, less than 175 were ever produced. I happen to own 2 and they are the shizzle. These triggers are very rare and once every 3-4 yrs I'll see one for sale

Since the new Model 92 comes with a Jewel trigger, they must be using a 700 clone action now.

I guess I’ll pull a few others and see what they look like. Thanks for the info guys.

You can use calipers to check the pin spacing and pin diameter and compare it to a Remington. That would tell you pretty quick if it will fit, now the sear may be different...that's harder to tell.
