Never seen my brass do this before??

Going through my stash & all these 6ppc cases were in the same MTM box...almost all the loaded rounds were affected, empties are ok. Yes, they have been sitting around for some time but have others of the same era stored the same with no issues.

Looks like something was spilled on it Paul? Corrosion of some sort.

Looks like the ole Pindel and Palmisano rot
Are you going to disassemble and tumble?

I had a Grendel round do that while being chambered. I have no idea what caused it.

What case lube do you use?

It was your typical 50rnd mtm box in excellent shape. I don't see how only certain chambers could have gotten something in them to cause the contamination with all the odds not affecting the empties??

Anyway, I doused it with WD40 & then sprayed gun scrubber to degrease. I'll likely just toss the whole batch as these are .262 neck turned & don't have any notes on how many times they have been loaded. I also don't have a ppc rig either & seems logical to start over if I ever got another.

black...I've seen rounds from suppressed guns left in the chamber start this reaction rather quickly & can only assume the inert gasses the can causes not be expelled is the cause.

never in a gun that wasn't suppressed.

Looks like electrolysis of some kind, the small spots grow and spread.

I'm going to have to say moisture is part of the equation.
