Reloading .223 on Hornady LnL AP

    Hey GS

for those of you on here with the Hornady Lock n Load AP turret press are you able to size and de-prime in one step? or are you unning the decap rod down to punch primer then doing all the case prep before lube and sizing?

    thanks

Lube your cases. Size and deprime in one step. Then trim if necessary.

would you bother with primer pocket cleaning or brushing the necks of the casing?

I use Hornady One Shot and always spray inside the necks. So yes I always lube inside necks. I don’t see a lot of benefits in cleaning primer pockets every time. I will if they are really dirty.

I decap with a universal decapper first, then run them in my wet media(stainless steel), then lube and resize, then trim if needed.

You can if the primers are not crimped. If they are you will need an extra step. Crimp must be removed by swageing or reaming.

I tumble clean, lube, then run through all the stations on the press. If the primers are crimped I just throw them out. Plenty of 223 range brass. If I'm reloading for more accuracy then I will weigh each load but for plinking rounds I just visually check each case for powder. I don't load at max and the powder drop on the LNL works really well.

can i use 5.56 brass with load data for .223?

                  Yes. Don't run 5.56 through a .223 though. A 223 Wylde can handle both.
