A little Eye Candy for the Remington Collectors...

One of my favorite guns they ever produced...haven't seen one of these repeaters for sale in a long time & it's a dandy!!

Is that a good price? It is a beautiful rifle.

It's certainly a beautiful rifle, but the asking price seems awfully high.

It is really one of those guns where current market value is not set in stone...with only about 700 made they rarely come up for sale & especially since that one is mint. Only thing I would say is if I had the money & wanted one for a long term collector item, this would be the one to get. Do I think it's high?? Yeah, my guess it would gone if it was $8,000-$8500...having said that, whoever pays the $10k will be able to sell it for more way down the line at some point.

The last one that sold on gunbroker I was watching went for $6k & had similar quality wood & styling, but was a 95%-97% gun with some minor blueing loss & handling marks. Nothing major.

Every repeater was said to be a special order made to spec...I found mine about 15 years ago I guess & is unfired. Even had The box but it went missing along the way?? I found this pic on my phone but can dig it out & take more if anyone is curious. The one I acquired has open sights & yet to see another one that does. Not my style but dig the uniqueness.

I like the wood on yours better than the other one. Nice rifle.

                  That's a nice 40X rimfire repeater. Didn't they call those a Sporter?
Not a repeater but back in the early 80's Howard Dietz built me a 40X .22 that was death at the local turkey shoots. He ordered a 40X rimfire barreled action and bedded it in a BDL stock. At a casual glance it looked like a short action BDL Varmint. It loved Eley 10X ammo. My baby brudder and I won 11 out of 12 turkeys at one local shoot with it. We didn't shoot the final round but let everyone else shoot the 40X. I sold it during a divorce but sure wish I knew where that gun is today.

Yeah...I would have liked to seen that gun too. Dietz made some neat guns for sure. I'm guessing he ordered you the shorter bbl/action and not the more common target?? If so, I didn't know that was an option.

Most all the 40x sporters you see are single shots & there are some really handsome ones out there from time to time...I guess the proper name for these would be 40-x sporter repeater.

At the time he was on Remington's favorites list so he got about anything he wanted. It was a 24" varmint weight bbl I'm thinking like they used on the target guns. I didn't want the target stock so he ordered a barreled action.

The target barrels were normally 26" (some maybe longer??) with very little taper...super heavy. You may have very well had a one of kind as the target contour would have required a crazy amount of inletting for a standard bdl stock. Makes me wonder what you actually had??

I know a lot of folks would take the Winchester 52 target & turn the barrel down & restock to their sporting configuration...wasn't original but was a cool way to get a shooter vs an expensive 52 sporter I guess. I don't think I've ever seen it done to a 40x but reckon it has at some point.
