We'll after reading all the good stuff about the compass I called around and as usual Academy had the best deal @ $299 for the 6.5 Creedmoor. I always try to buy local but they were about 70$ more and since I was doing a budget gun I went with the cheapest.I had a hard time choosing between the 7mm-08 and the 6.5 but I figured I would see what all the hype was about with the 6.5.Unfortunately I won't be home to shoot it until mid summer.Fortunately my better half is going to pick it up for me this afternoon.

With this being a budget build I'm going to use a Leupold 3-9x40 Ultimate Slam I have not being used.

Your going to be as happy as a pig in s••t!!!! Before you do anything. Order a spring for the trigger. Best money you will spend on it.

I'm definitely going to get the new spring. I was a bit surprised that when my gf went to get the gun she asked about the rebate and the guy told her that it ended the end of the year which I new it was extended until the end of April. Thinking I may call them tomorrow and inform them that it has been extended.

I have an extra Hunter spring if anyone needs one. I’ll sell it for the $10 that I spent on it. It brought the trigger pull down between 1# and 1.5#.

Just to be clear, it reduced the trigger pull by 1-1.5# from the factory pull correct? (Not a finished product of 1-1.5#).

Like I mentioned before- one hunter spring and one of the nuts replaced with a brass washer yields a ~3.75# pull.

Yes brings it down. Not finished 1.5#. It brought mine down between 4.5# - 5#. My trigger started at just over 6#. So final may be a little different on yours.

Each gun is different. My target spring was just over 4#. Some got 3.5-4 with the hunting spring. And 2.5-3.5 with target. Each one might be a little different.

I ordered one from Sportsmans Guide. I thought these had an adjustable trigger. Does it just not adjust down much at all, is that why y'all are changing the spring?

                        Correct, no adjustment

They had a law suit because people were backing them off to much and they were going off if if bumped just right. So now you can only take up the creep. So yes that what the spring swap is for.

Thanks. I'll get the spring as soon as I get the rifle.

I was able to spend a few minutes at our leases hundred yard rifle range with my 6.5 compass and pulled this group after a few fouling shots (Following a serious cleaning I put on it after it’s previous maiden voyage).
                              3 shots-

This was with the Hornady Whitetail 129grainers.
Luckily for me it likes the cheap stuff.

After being tickled with that 3 shot group I threw 2 more at to appease the 5 shot group crowd-

This is with the Hunter spring and one trigger nut replaced with a washer.
It could stand to be another pound lighter and I might worry about that later. As it is right now there will be no “oh snap” discharges while aiming that my lighter triggered guns sometimes surprise me with.

I’m happy enough with this rifle to consider replacing my sons youth 7mm-08 with one of these now that he’s mostly grown up.
