    Suppressed 223: AR vs Bolt

Is there any difference in audible level when fired?

Given barrel length is the same...14" or 16.5". I believe I can go to 10" with an Omega.

Im considering acquiring a 223/5.56 bolt gun for the truck for predator and varmint control. No subsonic ammo. Store bought ammo only.

I figure overall noise will be reduced by simply eliminating the AR action but aside/outside of that...?

Thanks in advance. Yall have a great day.

Yes. In a suppressed AR you will hear the slamming of the bolt.

Bolt will be quieter, but not enough to make any difference hunting wise.

The supersonic crack will cover the sound of both actions.

I've shot my suppressed .223 AR next to my fathers Remington 788 suppressed in .223 and his is quieter. Not by much though. Suppressed ammo especially. With full power stuff my AR is definitely louder. Probably due to barrel length.
