I’ve seen my dad devastate some animals with his 25-06 we bought him. The Hornady 117gr SST can be found at academy or cabelas fairly regularly. We usually buy it 2 boxes at a time and start looking again when we get down to one box so we never run out. Not a terrible lot of recoil either.

Yeah 25-06 is much easier to locate on a regular basis. 257 not so much. 25 caliber rifles are great deer rifles. I wish there was more of a market for them.

I'm in the same boat as some of the others. All of this is foreign to me.

I've been thinking I want an 7-08. Is 7-08 a good caliber for say Axis, Mule Deer and Aoudad?

Load that puppy up with some 140 Gr. Nosler Accubonds and you can whack just about anything you want!

The 117 grn 25.06 is legit!! Dads ruger 1 and my TC shoot it well. I like the 25.06 a lot and considered this build in it. Ive taken a fair amount of deer with it with an 87 grn also.

Im really torn on this entire APR deal. Order for me or sons graduation (even though hes only a freshman). Then theres the caliber dilemma. Dont have a need for a magnum rifle really. More interested in a whitetail round from the pineywoods to south texas deer and maybe antelope. Reloading at pops is possible but not a deal breaker if I dont mess with it. Right now he loads for us but we dont go thru much ammo. Heck Ive had the same box of 25.06 for the TC for 4 or 5 years
