    223 Subsonic ammo?

What's the best subsonic 223 ammo that's realitivy inexpensive ?

    #2
22LR. Haha but subsonic and 223 with inexpensive doesn't go together unless you reload. Can make it super cheap then with some 55gr fmjs and a pinch of trail boss for a fun plinker. Any reason 223 and not 300blk?

The least expensive I found .223 subs was 19.99 a box at KNS Precision on Fredricksburg.
They had Beck Ammo subsonic 75gr .223 with JHP bullets. My cousin ear holes hogs with this load at 50yds.
But like above poster. Why .223 and not .22LR...WAY cheaper.

Be very careful going down this road if you are shooting suppressed and you like your suppressor. It's very difficult to get heavy .223 bullets to stabilize at low velocities in normal twist rate barrels. This leads to tumbling that can ruin your suppressor. As stated above, just shoot .22 LR subs.

I will say once I get a 223 I will be playing with subs extensively. It's a cheap way to go and my can isn't serviceable so I have no choice and I'm sure your in the same boat but I'll be reloading and paying alot of attention to the 55-65gr area not 75gr 223 that I'm sure will Tumble like stated above.

We have had ZERO tumbling in the many 75gr sub loads we have launched down range. Matter of fact...the .223 subs were shot out of a AAC SD7.62 30cal can from a Ruger American. So if there was ever tumble room. It would be in that situation. While it can be possible for a bullet to tumble, Hogs are dying from this combo in Mountain Home, Ingram and Harper.
Yes, I guess we have just been lucky.
Now I hope you didn't just put the horns on me

I too went the 22 conversion kit and 60gr SSS route.

Are you head shooting these hogs? I just can’t see a 22 caliber bullet at subsonic velocities being effective otherwise.

Ive had horrible experience with beck subsonics. Shots are all over the place past 30yards. Enough to **** you off trying to have fun target shooting.

Yes Mike. These hogs are being head shot at close ranges. 50 yds and less.
I was VERY reluctant to agree with my cousin that load would be good medicine for hogs. I thought too slow and too light. Then the pictures started showing up of dead hogs. I owed him a steak dinner. I passed on the info about tumbling to him. He was unaware of that possible situation. We did sight in a 300 BO bolt gun that he already killed an Axis with. So, I'm hoping he puts down that .223 sub ammo and starts using that 300. Baffle strikes are dangerous.
Beck ammo: Have nothing to complain about with Beck ammo. The 110gr Nosler Varmedgeddon 300 BO load has killed everything I have shot at it with.
