    Franchi 912 variomax

So I've got a Franchi 912 Variomax and it has a light and heavy markings on a gas block. Which way should it sit too soak up heavy loads?

I believe it’s option/photo 1 but could be wrong. They sure could have made that less confusing.

Option one. I've got a 720...same gas system. There's a half of an arrow on the collar that works the spring(or should be), and you put the gas block on to complete the arrow for which loads you want to shoot.

BTW, if you haven't shot them much, they prefer to be shot with a real light amount of lube. The only time I've ever had mine give me a fit was when I left way too much lube on the gun.

I mainly shoot gas operated shotguns, the recoil systems beneilli always toted I've never really trusted after a AL20 gave me fits till I took it to get professionally cleaned.

Tell me about it! I was sliding it into the barrel coupler seeing which one was a tighter fit.

Thanks for the info guys I'm gonna look for that arrow mark when I get home.

I'm a gas gun guy too. The gas system in that Franchi is about the easiest to clean I've ever seen. Nothing in the stock, and it all breaks down in about 10 seconds.

Well after looking at it this is the right way for heavy loads, thanks for the heads up on the arrow, they could of made it stand out a little bit more!

I believe this is a gas gun. It is definitely not similar to the Benelli inertia system, but newer Franchi’s have gone to inertia, which I like. I’m sure this is a great shooter though. I have a Weatherby that has a similar piston system but you have to change between two different ones.

Yes sir it is. Took it on a goose hunt yesterday. Was gonna shoot it but buddy's gun was acting up so he borrowed it. Loaded smooth and he said recoil was not bad so I had the piston ring on right
