I have a vortex diamond back scope and vortex binos (i dunno which ones) and I like em. Im lookin for a long(er) range scope to put on my new 6.5 creedmoor. thinkin about the crossfire II. whos got one? do you like it? how do you like the adjustable optic? Is stepping up to the diamond back worth the extra money? I can get the crossfire II for $299 with a 1 piece mount and rings for $299, or the diamondback 4-16x42.

I have the diamondback in that magnification and honestly I liked them When I tested but but when actually using to hunt they aren’t that great. I have 2 Of the diamondback models and for what ever reason these are not that great (glass quality, light collecting, steadiness at longer distances). I understand these are not high-end but if I had similar money to spend I’d go with something else.

Vortex makes some great optics but I would look at something like Sightron their S-tac series is pretty good. In a 6-24x50 Crossfire when you start trying to use the higher magnifications and using it in lower light conditions you will be disappointed. Vortex optics have issues with blurring around the edges of the glass. I would go with the diamondback if you get one. Spending more on an optic is ALWAYS worth it. Good glass at 10x is better that 16x 18x 20x with crappy glass. I wont by a scope with anything smaller that a 30mm tube and 44mm objective for light gathering purposes and adjustability making longer range shots. Make sure whatever you get in manufactured/made in the Philippines or Japan. SWFA (is fixed power though) is a good one around $300, Sightron Stac, Nikon prostaff 5 or 7, Rudolph Optics, watch sales for Vortex Viper old school PA version, lots of people liking Athlon optics also. Optics Planet has great prices and always has a deal to get at least 5% off just by typing in the wrong promo code it may give you a code for 5% off. I have 2 sightrons one 4-16x Stac and on 8-32x56 LR SIII. I have taken the Stac to 1000 yards no problem and adjustments are true and on the nose and the LR SIII out to a mile. With the LR SIII I can read 12"-14" letters on a football stadium 3.3 miles away at dusk.
