    AR15 6.5 Grendel Help?

So I have a Grendel that I've had since Obama took Office. I've taken all kind of game with it. I really enjoy the rifle with that being said I've always had one issue with it. When it loads a round into the chamber sometimes the round gets stuck in the barrel, or maybe the bolt gets jammed either way I cant get the round out. I basically have to kick or use something like a hammer to kick the charging handle back to eject the round. I've used factory rounds and handloads with the same results. It doesn't always jam but I would say 75% of the time it does. I have no idea what it could be but its driving me nuts.

Anybody have any ideas? or know someone that does?

I'm in for this had it happen first time today. It was a fusion factory round. After getting it loose, saw the bullet tip had marks on it. Ran a boresnake thru it and oiled the bolt. Chambered and ejected 3 rounds with no problems. Rifle has less than a 100 rounds thru it. May be a mag issue?

I’ve had that happen with a BCG that was really tight. Swapped it with another gun and it ran fine. The tight BCG ran great in the other gun too...

start by a good cleaning,, then try just dropping rounds in the chamber, with the bcg removed see if they are chambering all the way... if not mark and mic those rounds, compare them to other new ammo, and check your brands and see if there is any difference with chambering different ones
a magic marker works pretty well, mark the cases all over drop them back into the chamber and look for rub marks,,, use multiple cases and see if it is the ammo or a spot in the chamber.... pay particular attention to the shoulder for contact, a slightly short chamber could certainly cause the problem your having

if all the ammo chambers correctly it is most likely caused by the bcg,, look for rub marks it could be just a poor fit with the bcg....if you find a suspicious spot, use the marker and slowly work the back from closed ,,, it's a little hard trying to hold the bolt and let it down by hand slowly,,, make sure no ammo is used while checking the bcg fit!

Is this happening while chambering your first round or after a few rounds?

Rifling marks on the ogive of the bullet equals a projectile not seated deep enough for the chamber as reamed. Either throat the barrel or seat bullets deep enough to not stick in the leade of the rifling. Just be aware that seating bullets deeper can raise pressures, and the Grendel is generally loaded hot anyway. The Wolf Gold is really hot loaded, so be careful seating bullets deeper on that one. Check by using a magic marker on the bullet, then seat the round in the chamber. If it has marks on it when extracted that correspond to the rifling, it is too long.

My Alexander Arms did the same. I am using 27.8 grs of 8208XBR and 123 gr Amax bullet. I changed out my buttstock to DPMS GI issue and it stopped. The recoil spring and buffer are so much stronger and heavier than most aftermarket stocks.

Now I think that 6.5 Grendel is better suited for a bolt action rifle , IMO. I say that because it is very accurate and an AR platform does not do it justice. I think it is similar to a 6mm PPC.

Did you hit the forward assist and fire the round? I might be confused after reading your post again. My rifle was short cycling and would not fire because the bolt was not in battery.

The gen 1 barrels midway was carrying needed a slightly bigger chamber. The second gen did not have this issue.
I went with an Odin works after reading many reviews. Mine is very accurate and runs flawlessly.

I had an Alexander arms barrel do that. Had to send it back to finish ream it and remove burrs. Works great now. Although it was more accurate with the burrs somehow.

I had one with a match chambering in the early days that did that.

Cleaning the chamber with a chamber brush after every trip solved the issue.

Sammy, are you sure that your bullets aren't seated into the lands?
