I'm guessing this would be a better choice over the 22-250?

to me it is. Recoil is about the same in light weight micro actions like the Howa Mini and CZ 527 if you prefer bolt actions over ARs which the Grendel was developed for. After hunting some with an AR chambered in the Grendel I had a bolt action built for it.

I think of the Grendel as a mini-me of the 308.
Trajectory is less than one mil of the 308 out to 1000 yards
In comparing damage done by the 308 and Grendel you can tell the difference but the Grendel still does plenty for clean quick kills.
Both are accurate rounds to shoot.
Recoil even in the light weight mini actions is very light, on par with the 22-250.
if you want to play long range games 500-1000 the Grendel will get you there.

I shot a Howa 1500 in .223 and a Howa Ranchland in .204 for a while and really liked them both. Two of my buddies shoot the Howa Axiom. I've never known of a Howa that wasn't accurate.

Bought one in .223 for my daughter. Had to put a Timney trigger in it. Factory trigger was heavy and sear was gritty. After Timney the little gun will flat shoot

Picked up a 1500 in .308 put a cheap vortex on it and it’s a tack driving machine. One of the better out of the box shooters I’ve bought over the years

I have a .308 with 20” #6 contour barrel and I have a Weatherby Vanguard which is close to a howa. I really like them.
