    6 Dasher or 6 BRX?

Cajun Blake and other BR gurus,

My new shop will be done in a couple of weeks and a good friend of my dad's wants me build put together a barreled action for him. We're trying to decide on either a dasher or brx. He kind of wants the dasher but I'm pushing for the brx since you can use regular 6 br dies but it does give up some neck. He wants it throated for 105 bergers. I can't really say if one is favorable to the other but I figured I'd see what y'all think.

6 Dasher has been doing great things at the long range shoots

My brother and dad shoot both at 600 and 1000yds and do pretty good with each i would choose the easiest to reload for.

Love my dasher. It's really not that much trouble to form considering the gains. The standard .104 freebore reamer will work fine for 105's. A .135 FB will work well for everything. If he's shooting any distance, the 110 SMK is worth looking at.

          Copy that gents.

Stick, I appreciate it sir. Wouldn't mind a touch more freebore in case he wants to go heavier and jam em a bit but I'll leave it up to him. Old time BR shooter, used to shoot PPC's in the old Houston warehouse some so he know what's up (I'll just be following his directions). By the way, the 338 Lapua y'all built me last year has now gone to 1200 (hoping for a mile this year if I can find a place to go that far). I always tell people that if the house is on fire, after my kid, that's the first thing comin' out!

            Dasher

with a Newlon custom FL bushing die and Wilson bullet seater

the Hornady case forming Hydro-Die will save on brass prep and FF'ing

              kck,

I'm sure you've talked to Dale about this(may be who you were referring to as the BR shooter). I know he built one for a guy who used it to win the clay shoot in Huntsville a while back. I've been really thinking about a Dasher in the future. I plan on talking to Dale about it soon.

Thanks Blake. We're most likely going with the dasher and I wasn't familiar with Newlon dies but they're obviously top notch. The gentleman this is for loves his Wilson dies and an arbor press so he'll have all that good stuff.

Hey Dave. Not for Dale and I haven't talked to him about it but I probably should. Thinking we'll go with the dasher as all we'll need is dies. Buying a large lot of reamers from a GS that's getting out of the trade and found out there's a dasher reamer in the lot and only used 1 time. Don't know neck or freebore on it though so we'll see if it'll work.

I have a Dasher and paid a brass service to hydroform my brass. Money well spent IMO

The mythical place of Virgil King and Bob Fisher. I bet your dad's friend has some stories. Lots of good info came out of that warehouse.

Yessir. From the stories he's told me, those fellas were on a whole different level and to say they were particular about their methods would be an understatement. I've never shot any BR but I may try it out with Mr. Heger's (dad's friend) tutelage. I'm sure I could make myself look pretty dumb at a shoot without help.
